Compliance Manager

Position Overview:

The primary role of the Compliance Manager is to develop, implement, and administer all aspects of the compliance programs. The position plans, organizes and controls the day to day compliance activities while ensuring that the compliance department activities run smoothly and efficiently by providing leadership, training, and supervision ensuring compliance efforts are maintained on a daily basis. Working directly with the COO on emerging compliance issues and suggesting controls to mitigate risks. In the position, the Compliance Manager will perform direct supervisory duties of regional staff and is required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in all areas of the department.

Job Details:

  • Management of compliance issues including monitoring changes in applicable provincial and federal laws and regulations and implementing the appropriate changes to our Company’s practices;
  • Establish and administer a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on all client complaints;
  • Responsible for the prompt response to detected offences, developing corrective action, and report findings and when required to the applicable regulatory bodies;
  • Consult with Legal and Broker of Record as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues;
  • Review and approve all marketing materials from a compliance perspective;
  • Respond to government legislations and queries;
  • Deliver consistent quality service to agents and brokers in all regions of Canada except for Quebec;
  • Liase with internal and external partners in order to adequately provide and maintain a high-level service standard;
  • Support and promote the Invis-MI culture through various channels. Ie. Angels in the Night, Galas, Professional Development days, team meetings;
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company, or as directed by the President

Job Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of direct work experience in a regulatory compliance position in the Mortgage Brokering/Lending/Banking/Investment industries;
  • Valid Ontario Mortgage Agent license with FSRA would be preferred
  • In depth knowledge of FICOM, FSRA, RECA, Provincial Mortgage Brokering Legislation, Privacy and other regulations and guidelines;
  • A defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills;
  • Able to build and maintain corporate relationships with internal departments and business partners;
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key individuals;
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal & Written);
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Proficient with MS Office.
